What is Girls Brigade?

Article Pic Girls' Brigade has been active in Australia since 1927! Girls' Brigade celebrated it's 100th Anniversary in Scotland in 2000!

The Girls' Brigade is part of an international Christian youth organisation which supports the family, serves in the community and meets the need of girls just like you by operating through local churches.

The well planned programme covers a wide range of activities which will help you grow in the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of life. Starting with a simple scheme, the programme develops into a wider sphere of work, leading on to the full range of subjects and projects including the Duke of Edinburgh and Queens Award (the highest award in the Girls' Brigade). These present an exciting challenge for older teenagers. You will also be encouraged to take part in Leadership Training within the Brigade. We follow an achievement system and earn badges. The weekly program can include craft, devotions, games, visiting speakers, excursions, videos and much more. On the last night of each term we have a birthday party for everyone who has had a birthday that term. Our Chaplain visits once a month to take devotions.

Girls Brigade caters for Girls from Grade 1 to the age of 20 years and you are divided into groups according to your grade at school. Cadets (grades 1-3), Juniors (grades 4-6), Seniors (grades 7 & 8), and Pioneers (grade 9 to 20 years old).

Girls Brigade and Safety

We take the safety of all the girls entrusted to us very seriously. All leaders hold a current "Suitability Card" for child related employment which is issued by the Commission of Children and Young People.

If you would like to attend Girls Brigade then just turn up on the night. We do require you to bring your parent/guardian in to introduce themselves. They will need to sign a permission form which includes some contact details and your medicare number. They are welcome to stay and watch if they like.

Each week when you arrive your parent/guardian will need to sign you in, and at the end of the night come inside to pick you up and sign you out too.
